There's a little process involved when creating these pendants. First I need a really nice shell piece. I like working with Capiz shells because they have a texture on the surface which helps the Orchid adhere better and they are plain yet match the flower well. Next I wait for blooms to happen, enjoy the flowering Orchid plant for awhile and snip snip snip! I carefully put them in a flower press my husband made me (thankyou sweetie!) with lots of layers of tissue paper. After about a week, I check to see if it's good and flat. I carefully then peel away the tissue paper. I use a small paint brush to brush glue on the back of the Orchid and glue it to the shell. After the glue dries, I get some clear coat spray for dried flowers and put a couple coats on. And voila! Your beautiful keep sake is ready!
My nephew, when he was just a little toddler, gave me a flower for the first time. It was so adorable, I just had to save that moment. I put the flower between some book pages to press it and keep it forever. After I started making Orchid pendants, I remembered my flower in the book. And so I now have it safe forever...along with the special memory.
If you have a pressed flower and would like to have it put onto a shell, contact me and I would love to insure your keepsake can be forever like mine is.
